Muslim terrorists carried out 101 attacks on Israel in April, according to the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency). The number is slightly lower than the 128 attacks registered in March. However, it is higher than the terror statistics for late 2010 and early 2011.

Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria saw a marked dip in the rate of attacks in April. There were 16 attacks in Jerusalem in the course of the month, compared to 42 in March, and 19 in Judea and Samaria, compared to 36 in March. Most of the attacks in these regions were carried out with firebombs.

Two Israeli citizens were killed in the course of the month: Ben Yosef Livnat  and Juliano Mer-Khamis . The Shin Bet lists the two together, despite the drastically different circumstances of their lives and deaths. Six Jews were wounded in the shooting that claimed the life of Ben Yosef Livnat.

Livnat's killers are Palestinian Authority "policemen" who opened fire on the vehicle he was in after  he and his friends attempted to approach the Tomb of Joseph in order to pray there.

Mer-Khamis was the son of a Jewish woman and an Arab man, who sided with PA terrorists against Israel and expressed sympathy for a Muslim suicide bomber. He resided in Haifa and in Jenin, where he was murdered by local Islamists.

Attacks from Gaza were more frequent in April: 66 attacks, compared to 50 in March. Much of this terror activity was in the form of rocket fire: 87 rockets and 57 mortar shells were fired at Israel, in 63 incidents. In a particularly barbaric attack, terrorists fired an anti-tank missile at a clearly marked yellow school bus near Nahal Oz, killing 16 year old Daniel Viflic and wounding another person.
