A lone Arab terrorist attacked a Border Police officer Monday afternoon near the entrance to the northern Jerusalem suburb of Shuafat, stabbing him in the neck.
"The police officer was inspecting an Arab bus at the Shuafat crossing at the time," Israel Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld told Israel National News. "He was stabbed in the neck from behind."
Magen David Adom medics treated the wounded officer at the scene before whisking him away to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem. The officer remained conscious throughout his ordeal, despite having the knife stuck in his neck, MDA reported.
"The terrorist was immediately arrested and taken to Jerusalem District Police headquarters for interrogation," Rosenfeld said. "He was from the Palestinian Authority village of Anata, but apparently had been in Shuafat at the time."
The officer is currently listed in moderate condition.
