The Knesset’s temporary Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee convened for its first meeting overnight Monday and approved the establishment of a special intelligence and services committee headed by MK Gabi Ashkenazi.
The members of the committee are MKs Amir Peretz, Yair Lapid and Moshe Ya'alon. Ashkenazi said he wanted to vote on the establishment of the committee right away, because of the importance of this period. With the establishment of a committee which is authorized to supervise the Shin Bet’s digital surveillance of coronavirus carriers, the Supreme Court's interim ruling on the matter from last week is redundant.
