100 hotels have closed throughout Israel and immediate emergency assistance of 500 million shekels is being requested to prevent collapse in the hotel sector and laying off of thousands of employees. The hotel closures will result in a monthly loss of 800 million shekels. Layoffs could include the termination of 12,000 regular employees with an additional 12,000 employees sent on vacation without pay. 5,000 employees working on a contractual basis would also be terminated.
