Concerns have been raised that the coronavirus would provide legitimacy for Shin Beit, Israel's internal security agency, to surveil every citizen. But even surveillance of those legitimately quarantined presents problems. Tehilla Shwartz Altshuler, a senior colleague of the Israel Democracy Institute said, "While it is understandable that detailed information regarding individuals under the fourteen day quarantine needs to be accessed, it is essential that this information be destroyed at the end of the quarantine period."
