Chairman David David Elhayani of the Yesha Council of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria has welcomed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's announcement that he has instructed to promote construction of 3,500 dwelling units in the E1 corridor between Jerusalem and Maale Adumim.
Elhayani said, "This is giant news to the Israeli settlement enterprise in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley, which has been waiting for over a decade and a half for approval of an urban building plan in Area E1. The late Yitzhak Rabin began planning the site in 1994, and it was stopped during the Sharon and Bush period in 2004." He concluded, "The advancing of the matter will allow for broad and strategic construction between Maale Adumim and Jerusalem."
