President Reuven Rivlin landed in Fiji on Thursday morning on his way to a state visit to Australia. During his visit to the island, the President, together with Prime Minister of Fiji, led a first of its kind summit of the Pacific States held in the city of Nadi, in which leaders from Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Tonga and Palau took part.
Rivlin announced during the summit that the State of Israel will award 100 new scholarships to students from the Pacific for study at the Arava College in Israel. In addition, the President also announced the establishment of a center for excellence and innovation for these countries.
