A Japanese woman in her 80s died from the coronavirus on Thursday, Japan's health ministry announced today.
The woman, who was not named, lived in the Kanagawa Prefecture south of Tokyo, and is the first confirmed coronavirus-related fatality in Japan.
This is the third confirmed coronavirus death outside of China, after one fatality was reported in Hong Kong, and another in the Philippines.
