Inspectors from the Agriculture Ministry have uncovered 12 tons of kiwi smuggled from Turkey, which were put up for sale in the Haifa wholesale market.
Announcing the seizure, the ministry said, "The introduction of this produce could have lead to the entry of insects and non-existent plant diseases in Israel that could damage local crops, cause irreversible damage and destroy entire agricultural industries."
