President Reuven Rivlin met on Thursday morning with Speaker Nancy Pelosi of the United States House of Representatives, as part of meetings that began Tuesday with world leaders who have arrived in Jerusalem for the World Holocaust Forum.
Rivlin said the relationship between the two countries is stronger than ever, noting that it's independent of political positions and relies on a deep internal connection between the people of the two countries. He called the US Israel's most important friend and a firm component of its national security. The two expressed concern over the rise in anti-Semitic incidents in the United States and throughout the world, and reiterated their commitment to combat it.
