Hadassah Medical Center announced that a 36-year-old woman in labor brought to Hadassah Mount Scopus last night collapsed at the entrance to the delivery room.
Her death was determined after and despite intense and prolonged CPR efforts.
A senior hospital obstetrics team rescued the baby in an immediate cesarean section while performing CPR and is currently being treated in the hospital neonatal unit.
An initial post-mortem examination revealed that it was probably a rupture of the aorta that occurred en route to hospital.
