British Ambassador to Iran, Rob Macaire, left the country on Wednesday and returned to the UK, a few days after being detained for several hours on the grounds that he had inflamed protests against the regime in Tehran.
The British Foreign Office denied the possibility that the ambassador was expelled from Iran, claiming that the trip was planned a long time ago and that he would return to Iran "in the coming days".
