It was a festive day in the Galilee’s capital Tuesday, when the mystical city of Tzfat got its first traffic light, fully regulating the entrance to the city - Biriya Intersection.

For years, Tzfat has been talking about arranging the intersection, but it has not come to fruition.

About a year ago, Tzfat Mayor Shuki Ohana hosted then Transport Minister Yisrael Katz, and the two agreed on arranging the intersection and placing the first traffic light in Tzfat.

Some 40 years ago, Tzfat had a traffic light at the entrance to the Old City, but it was removed and for decades there has been no traffic light in the Galilee’s capital.

Dozens of residents arrived at the intersection Tuesday to witness their city’s first traffic light.
