A report by The Washington Post claims that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pressed President Donald Trump to approve the drone strike which eliminated Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian general in charge of the Revolutionary Guards Corps' Quds Force.
According to the report, Pompeo had raised the issue with Trump several months ago, only to be turned down by the president and the Pentagon.
