The Women's International Zionist Organization has welcomed the decision of Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi of the Israel Defense Forces to extend the pilot program to integrate women soldiers in the Armor Corps.
The organization said, "The chief of staff's message changes the public discourse regarding the recruitment and placement of women in the military service in Israel. It is a statement that allows the IDF to make substantive decisions without outside considerations." Noting the track record of women in the IDF, WIZO said, "Incorporating women in the IDF wherever possible is necessary and the chief of staff's directive in this regard is welcome and expands the opportunities available to female recruits to realize their potential and increase motivation."
