Health Minister Yaakov Litzman has written to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, proposing to establish a vaccine plant in Israel that will ensure "the ability to provide a complete response to large populations."
In the letter, whose contents were seen by Yediot Ahronot, Litzman said, based on his ministry's research, "There is no dispute that flu vaccine is the most effective tool for coping with seasonal flu events." He added"The global vaccine industry is concentrated and limited (for each vaccine there are individual manufacturers) and for this reason, a number of countries have chosen, after the flu event in 2009, to establish vaccine establishments in their territory."
