Transportation Minister Bezalel Smotrich explained on Monday that the plan to close one of the three railways in the Tel Aviv area is a "necessary means" to close the gap created by the railway electrification project.

"The reduction in service during the construction period is backed up by extensive preparations for complementary means of transportation. Indeed, temporary inconvenience can and will occur, but I believe this is decision that will be good for the public,” Smotrich tweeted.
