Citing Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, Yediot Ahronot reported on Thursday that Israel attacked a truck eight days ago in the Al-Bukamal area on the Iraq-Syria border.
Sources told the newspaper that the death of the truck's driver in the attack was the cause of the ensuing Iranian rocket fire at the Golan Heights. The paper noted that before the Iranian targets were attacked, Israel attacked several air defense target at the Al-Mazzeh military airport near Damascus, as well as six more air defense batteries in the Damascus area and another near the Israeli-Syrian border. Syrian military sources told the newspaper that a number of Syrian soldiers were killed in the attack.
