Holocaust survivor Shraga Shemer, a former head of the Hevel Yavne council and one of the foundera of the community of Nir Galim, has passed away at the age of 90. His funeral will take place Monday at 14:00 in Nir Galim.

Shemer set up the Bet Ha'edut (House of Testimony) in Nir Galim, which bequeaths the next generation the memory of the Holocaust, emphasizing the glorious legacy of religious Zionism and the central part that its people took in the rescue operations. A native of Hungary, he immigrated to Israel with a Geula (Redemption) core group through Miskolc, Aschau and the detention camps on Cyprus.
