On the eve of Sukkot, the 50th fawn was born at the Deer Valley (Emek Hatzvaim) municipal nature park in Jerusalem.
Noting the endanger nature of the Land of Israel Deer, Yael Hammerman-Soller, the park's director on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Nature, said, "Such a number of deer opens up our possibilities for release and restoration to nature, a project we have been working on together with the Nature and Parks Authority for the past year. We are all hoping that we will soon release the first two females as a pilot to reinforce deer populations in areas where there is a survival problem."
