The new route of the Society for the Protection of Nature's Israel Trail in the Judean Desert opened to hikers on Tuesday.
The new route includes Masada and Dead Sea and Ein Bokek hotels for the first time, adding 50 kilometers and two-to-three days to the section between Arad and HaMakhtesh HaKatan (the small crater). The old route will remain open for about two years.
