The Arava rescue unit is searching, assisted by a helicopter, for a couple from the United States, tourists in their 70s, who were hiking in the Makhtesh HaKatan (Small Crater) in the Negev desert and were supposed to meet a taxi driver on Thursday afternoon.
The searches began after the two did not reach the pickup point and did not make contact.
