The White House on Sunday night published a statement, following a phone call between US President Donald Trump Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to which “Turkey will soon be moving forward with its long-planned operation into Northern Syria” and the US Army “will not support or be involved in the operation” and “will no longer be in the immediate area.”
The statement also criticized “France, Germany, and other European nations” for failing to take back ISIS fighters from their countries, adding that “United States will not hold them for what could be many years and great cost to the United States taxpayer.”
