Residents of Katzrin who have chosen to send their children to an educational institution in Moshav Keshet rather than a local "mixed" school are threatening to strike the beginning of the school year because they are forced to fund the transportation of the children from their own money while parents from the Chabad community in the community receive a special budget for transporting their children to a school in Tzfat.

The monthly total of about 350 shekels is in addition to the payment of an annual fee for every child studying outside Katzrin. The parents are also considering legal action. The relevant Education Ministry official said that if the children in the group were to attend the same state-haredi school in Tzfat, they would also be eligible for the funding.
