About 200 police and dozens of Labor and Welfare Ministry inspectors raided 60 building sites in 24 cities across the country Tuesday morning to identify serious safety hazards.

The unprecedented, wide-ranging precautionary enforcement operation focused on sites of construction companies and contractors whose sites have recently suffered fatal work accidents or have experienced safety deficiencies that may endanger the safety of construction workers, tenants and bystanders and to act against those responsible for those hazards. It is also intended to increase public awareness of the issue of safety and deterrence for violators of the applicable laws.
