India's parliament voted on Tuesday to ban "triple talaq," a type of age-old Islamic divorce in India, which allows any Muslim man to legally divorce his wife by saying or writing talaq (divorce in Arabic) three times.
Anyone who uses triple talaq will face paying a fine and up to three years in prison. Additionally, Muslim men will be required to financially support their ex-wives.
