On Wednesday, the Knesset held a discussion on the conduct of the police and the Military Advocate General's Office in the investigation of the rape of a seven-year-old girl.
The debate was initiated by MK Shlomo Karai (Likud), in which it was unanimously decided that the issue would be dealt with by the Knesset Education Committee. "The picture that emerges from all the failures of the investigation indicates the extent of the fault in the conduct of the investigation file. The painful conclusion is that there is no alternative to an external examination. I do not think that the police or the Military Advocate General's Office can investigate themselves in this case, and therefore a government committee of inquiry is required on this matter, which I wanted to establish under section 8a of the government law. "
