The Fishing Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Marine Authority of the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority informed fishermen that it is forbidden to fish from the Grouper family of fish until the end of June.
All of this is in order to ensure, as far as possible, the completion of the proper and regular breeding of these fish for the conservation of the marine fish resource, and in particular for this sub-family of fish.
The Ministry of Agriculture explains that "harming the groupers during this period will constitute a significant blow to the next generation of these important fish living along the Israeli coast."
