Despite tensions between the Turkish government and Israel, Turkey's Yilmazlar International construction company has awarded 26 research scholarships, totalling 130,000 shekels, to students in the Department of Building Engineering at Ben-Gurion University in Be'er Sheva.
The company has been operating in Israel since 1996, with famous buildings such as the new control tower at Ben-Gurion Airport and the well-known Sarona Azrieli Tower in Tel Aviv to its credit. It also built the nearby physics building on the Ben-Gurion University campus.
