The Knesset told the Supreme Court on Thursday that it was within its authority to disband during the period in which a government was to be formed.
Responding to two constitutional petitions claiming that the law to disperse the 21st Knesset should be annulled on the grounds that the Knesset was not permitted to enact the law while the process of assembling the government was in full swing, attorneys cited sections of the Basic Law that said that the dispersion law overrides the procedures for forming the government.
