The Australian Institute for Economics and Peace has ranked Israel in 146th place out of 163 in its Global Peace Index for 2019.

On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the least peaceful, scored 2.2 for domestic and international conflict, 2.5 for safety and security and 3.9 for militarization, compared to first-place Iceland, which scored 1 for militarization and conflict and 1.1 for safety and security. The Palestinian Authority placed 142, scoring 2 for militarization, 2.6 for conflict and 2.9 for safety and security. Afghanistan replaced Syria as the worst country. Iran ranked 139 and Russia ranked 154. The United States ranked 128.
