Former prime minister Ehud Barak is very close to a final decision to run for leadership of the Labor Party according to the Yisrael Hayom newspaper.

In the past 24 hours, Barak spoke with a number of senior party officials about his intention, in order to examine his chances of succeeding. It is also reported that party chairman Avi Gabbay is informed on the matter, and if Barak makes a final decision, he will support his candidacy and may be number two on the list.
