The police issued a statement Thursday morning on the documentation of the incident on Wednesday in which Border Police officers beat a special education boy in Jerusalem after they were attacked by rock throwers in the course of enforcing rules to minimize bonfires for Lag Ba'omer in the Makor Baruch neighborhood of Jerusalem.
The statement said, "A preliminary investigation of the incident revealed that during the course of the activity a young man attacked one of the policewomen. During his arrest the suspect resisted, was disorderly, and was wounded in the face. Immediately after the arrest, and upon clarifying his disability, the police officer who was present in the area decided to release him immediately and he was treated at the scene by Magen David Adom. At the same time, the circumstances of the incident are being checked and thoroughly investigated."
