Data from the Ministry of Environmental Protection show that the public continued the trend from last year and responded to calls to refrain from lighting bonfires in many parts of the country.
Due to the severe meteorological conditions, the peak air pollution index Wednesday evening was 11.1, compared with 7.1 at the peak last year. Many places around the country recorded lower pollution levels.
