972 magazine reported that the Forum for Jewish-Arab Cooperation an internal forum in the far-left Meretz party called on the party to either formally join with Hadash-Ta’al, or transition into a fully-fledged Jewish-Arab party with an Arab party chairperson alongside a Jewish one.
The meeting included 40 Meretz members, including MK Issawi Frej, former MK Mossi Raz, attorney Gaby Lasky, and longtime party activist Nir Cohen.
Top party leaders have not yet commented and no statement has been made on whether the party could still define itself as Zionist if it were to go through such a transformation.
