The State Attorney's Office has submitted a preliminary response to the Supreme Court, demanding the deletion of a petition submitted by left-wing organizations on behalf of a fisherman from Gaza whose boat was captured by the navy in September 2016.
The organizations argued that the seizure of the boat, as well as other fishing boats from Gaza in Israeli hands, was contrary to any law and without authority. In its response to the court two weeks ago, the State Prosecutor's Office said that it intended to "work within the next few months to return the boat to the Gaza Strip, as well as the other fishing boats from the Gaza Strip that were seized by the Navy without a confiscation demand (about 65 boats), subject to security and political considerations and an assessment of the security situation."
