The International Department of the State Attorney's Office filed a petition with the Jerusalem District Court regarding the extradition of a French-Canadian citizen to France for prosecution for the abduction of his minor children.
In June 2014, the Canadian court granted the wanted person permission to leave for France with his minor children for a period of two and a half weeks, in the framework of the arrangements established between him and his ex-wife. During his stay in France, the wanted person announced that he did not intend to return to Canada after the period he had been granted, and therefore proceedings were initiated to return the children to Canada.
After the French court ordered the return of the children to Canada, the suspect took the children to Senegal and lived there for about two years. When the suspect was located in Senegal, the children were returned to Canada in 2017.
The wanted man, on the other hand, was declared extraditable to France by a Senegalese court. He then fled to Israel and submitted a request for naturalization.
