New United Arab List-Baladeh MK Emtanis Shihadeh attended the "Nakba Day" ceremony at Tel Aviv University this afternoon.

"Today we, the Palestinian people, remember the expulsion of more than 700,000 people and their expulsion from their land, the destruction of more than 530 Palestinian towns, and the killing of many in 1948.

"Israel has been trying for 71 years to erase Palestinian identity and collective memory by any possible colonial means, whether through the Nationality Law or the 'Deal of the Century' by suppressing freedom of expression, house demolitions, political persecution, the continuation of the siege, the occupation, and the violation of international laws and decisions," he listed.

"The historical facts can not be erased, and the keys to houses that are still in the hands of refugees and displaced people can not be eradicated; our just struggle for substantive equality and collective rights, freedom, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is stronger than all these attempts."
