A 65-year-old Herzliya resident was arrested yesterday after spitting at Polish Ambassador to Israel Marek Magierowski, who was sitting in his car near the Polish embassy in Tel Aviv.
Police arriving at the scene located the suspect and arrested him. He will be brought to court today for a hearing on the police's request to extend his detention.
The Foreign Ministry said "the matter is under police investigation, and the Foreign Ministry expresses full solidarity with the Polish ambassador and shock at the incident."
