A member of the National Security Committee of Iran told Al-Jazeera on Monday that the purpose of the explosions in the Gulf of Fujairah was to drag the US into war through the claim of a surprise threat.
The official also claimed that the explosions were a superficial scenario and that the plan had failed. He also said that Iran was serious about its desire for security in the region.
