Meretz Chairwoman Tamar Zandberg said at the beginning of her party's Knesset-faction meeting on Monday that she has informed the Attorney General's Office that if an opinion is not given as soon as possible on bills to protect the prime minister from prosecution on corruption charges as part of the coalition formation, the party will file a petition on the matter with the Supreme Court.
Zandberg said, "Every clause in the coalition agreement that includes the personal interest of the prime minister and his legal affairs constitutes a breach of trust." She added, "The prime minister is trying to flee bribery charges by means of a different type of bribe. In the new bribery deal, Netanyahu gives the State of Israel and the citizens of the State of Israel on a silver platter, and receives immunity."
