Former deputy chief of staff Yair Golan talked to Israel Defense Forces Radio on Tuesday about the actions that Israel must take in order to prevent the next round of fighting.

The retired general said, "Gaza is not a question of what to do while shooting, but what to do when there's no shooting. You have to give them a fat, sweet carrot and see if it goes well with Hamas. If it does not succeed, a ground operation is something that must be checked."
