An 87-year-old Holocaust survivor is one of three people who suffered lightly from smoke inhalation, Thursday morning, after being evacuated during efforts against a fire in a residential apartment in Givatayim.
The old woman thanked the firefighters, saying to them: "It is on this day that angels come to me versus the oppressors of that time." She added, "Apparently I must live. At the age of 12 and a half, I was left alone in Budapest without anyone. I saved myself, I came to Israel." The Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation reports the woman was invited to the Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony to be held at the fire station in Ramat Gan.
