The Journalism Council has expressed its concern over various reports, and implicit and explicit threats regarding the government's intention to cut about two-thirds of the budget of the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation, thereby mortally harming the corporation in particular and public broadcasting in general.
The council said that it attaches great importance to the existence of strong and healthy public broadcasting that will be a counterweight to the commercial channels, and that it calls on the government not to initiate such a move. It called on the political parties to act with all their might in order to thwart it.
