In response to the surge in world anti-Semitism incidents in the past year, World Zionist Organization Deputy Chairman Yaakov Haguel sent an emotional appeal to Diaspora community heads.
"77 years have passed since the Nazi machine ceased its physical destruction of the Jewish People, and the Jewish prisoners' uniforms were replaced by the most moral uniform in the world, and the dream of a Jewish state that accompanied the Jews on the way to the crematoria became reality.
"The canons of destruction are indeed silent, but hatred of the Jews continues to take on various forms with the intention and purpose of destroying our People.
"I call on you today, on the eve of Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day: Anti-Semitism is not a decree of fate or a reality that can be ignored. Report anti-Semitic incidents to law enforcement agencies, take to the streets, and demand your safety as citizens with equal rights in your places of residence. Strengthen the value of Jewish and national pride and know that the State of Israel and the entire Jewish world stands by you during these difficult times," said Haguel.
