The Israeli police and inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture's Animal and Vegetable Inspection Unit carried out inspections on Wednesday in two butcher shops in the central Israeli-Arab city Tamra.
In one business, the authorities seized about half a ton of meat from unlicensed slaughtering that was not fit for human consumption. In the other business, an additional 300 kilograms of inedible licensed meat was seized. The owners of the two businesses were detained for questioning and a hearing.
