Itai Zar, one of the leaders of Judea and Samaria's hilltop youth in the past, founded the Havat Gilad outpost, near Shechem in Samaria, 17 years ago. In the course of time, the place knew many confrontations, not only with Palestinian Authority residents but also with Border Guards, who claimed that Zar threatened them with a knife.
Zar was arrested and released, and after a long legal battle, he was acquitted of all the charges and received an extraordinary sum of 340,000 shekels in compensation.
