United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed outrage on Sunday at the terrorist attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka, recalling the sanctity of all places of worship, according to China's Xinhua news agency.

The secretary-general said that "he hopes the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice." The death toll from the multiple blasts that ripped through the country rose to 228 while 450 others were wounded, according to local media citing hospital sources.
