Member of Knesset Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) said on Thursday that, in his opinion, the need to draft soldiers into the Israel Defense Forces must be canceled.

Interviewed by IDF Radio against the backdrop of coalition negotiations over a law to regulate the drafting of yeshiva students, the chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee explained, "I'm not certain that in the present state of threats, of the sophisticated missiles, there is a need for compulsory induction. In order to deal with the challenges, a different conception is needed. I hear this from the security people."
