Yitzhak Vaknin, the minister of religious services, told the president during the consultation that the last government had championed the status quo on controversial issues.
"We cannot lend a hand to another government that will harm the sanctity of Israel, such as the Shabbat, something that is important to the unity of Israel," he said.
